Veterinary Technician Assistant

A Veterinary Technician Assistant represents an intermediate-level position bridging general kennel duties and f licensed veterinary technician responsibilities, providing essential technical and clinical support to veterinarians and the veterinary team.    
Core Responsibilities       
Patient Care: Pre- and post-operative care, cage cleaning, patient monitoring, feeding, watering, and maintaining accurate medical records    
Diagnostic and Technical Support: Assisting with blood draws, intravenous (IV) placement, surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring, laboratory procedures, and radiography    
Medication Management: Preparing medications under supervision, verifying drug orders, and assisting with medication administration    
Client Interaction: Communicating discharge instructions, providing basic client education regarding treatment plans, and generating financial estimates    
Facility Operations: Sterilizing equipment (autoclave operation), managing laundry, restocking supplies, and maintaining sanitation protocols    
Animal Handling: Safe restraint techniques, behavioral observation, and careful patient management
Qualifications       
Desired, not required:
Two years of previous veterinary office experience or equivalent.     
knowledge of animal species, medical terminology, OSHA standards, zoonotic diseases, and veterinary pharmacology   
Required
Excellent computer skills for medical records management    
Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds and work extended periods standing, walking, and bending
Ability to handle physically and emotionally demanding situations  
Team player and positive attitude
