Administrative Assistant/Accounts Payable

Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association is looking to fill the position of Administrative Assistant at the KRAA offices located in the City of Kodiak. KRAA is a non-profit corporation with up to 45 year-round and seasonal employees and multiple projects at several work sites. Applicants must have familiarity with general accounting practices, professional office operations, and administrative support. Strong computer skills and the ability to use QuickBooks for Non-Profits accounting software is required; basic understanding of GAAP and HIPAA requirements is preferred. This position works directly with the Administrative Office Manager and Executive Director. Depending on skillset and employment background as well as desired work schedule, this position may be full or part-time. Some familiarity with basic Human Resources functions would also be welcome experience for a successful applicant. KRAA may provide training and opportunity for professional development for an employee with a desire to gain additional skills or advancement.

DUTIES will include, but are not limited to:

  • This position is responsible for performing a variety of clerical functions including answering phones, receiving and distributing mail, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Accounting functions include accounts payables, credit card purchases/reconciliations, maintaining purchase order logs, archiving and filing, and communicating with vendors.
  • Must be open to cross training in other administrative functions such as payroll processing, reconciliations, financial reports and audit preparations.
  • Board of Directors support, annual elections and preparing minutes from meetings.
  • Additional financial duties will be assigned and increased over time.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferred applicants will have a 2 yr Accounting or General Business Degree and at least 2 years working in a professional office environment. Experience may be substituted for education on a case-by-case basis.
  • Excellent computer skills working with QuickBooks and Microsoft office programs.
  • This position requires self-motivation, organizational and multi-tasking skills, problem solving skills, and communication skills--both written and verbal. Must be able to work individually or part of a team, have a positive attitude and work in a responsible and professional manner
  • All KRAA employees must refrain from violence and represent the organization in a polite and positive manner.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license and be able to safely operate own or company vehicles do conduct errands and facilitate company logistics as needed
  • Must be willing to authorize and pass a criminal background check prior to the beginning of employment.
WAGE/BENEFITS: Starting wages at time of hire will be determined based on experience and skill set.
  • Hiring range is $22.75 – $25.25/hour, annual merit-based increases.
