Description
In order to prepare expecting parents for childbirth while keeping you safe, Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center's child birthing classes are going virtual! Beginning June 24, 2020, the eight-week childbirth class schedule will be available on Zoom. Parents who sign up for virtual classes will also have access to an eight-chapter, online e-learning program to complement what you learn in the virtual classes that can be completed on your own time.
- You can start attending class at or before 20 weeks of pregnancy.
- Registration is required. Online e-Learning, access to local virtual classes and books on Understanding Childbirth and Breastfeeding are provided at no charge. Participants can choose to participate in any or all of the e-Learning and Virtual classes.
- The 8-chapter online e-Learning program Understanding Childbirth from InJoy Health Education is interactive and web-based. It uses videos, personal stories, activities and games to teach essential information that parents need to know and it offers a flexible class schedule to meet busy lives.
- Virtual classes are taught by PKIMC OB Registered Nurses, OR Nurses and a Breast Feeding nutritionist. The virtual classes are intended to augment eLearning and the books provided and participants can meet local caregivers and ask questions and learn more about childbirth.
- Classes are every Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., except for Breast-Feeding Class that will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Virtual classes are provided on the MSTeams platform. Sign-in information is provided to participants before every class.
- A tour of the family birthing suites will be scheduled separately, if possible.
